John Youngs began works in March 2010 on a 12-week refurbishment of the ground and first floors of the four-storey premises in Norwich which stands on the corner of two leading throughfares, Upper King Street and Prince of Wales Road.
Job Centre Plus, Copperfield House, Great Yarmouth
The works comprised a two-storey addition to the existing Job Centre in Great Yarmouth. The finished extension blends with the existing building, and its construction of semi-engineering brick and blockwork complies with the Government regulations for buildings to be blast proof.
John Youngs undertook works on the Job Centre Plus (JCP), Townsend House, Thetford, to help staff cope with their increasing workload. This involved expanding into empty premises next door which involved two phases of work, as the building had to remain operational throughout.
John Youngs started work in May 2006 after completing enabling works on the former Bussey's garage site located on Palace Street, a site which nestles in the shadow of Norwich Cathedral. An eight-week archaeological dig uncovered new information about Norwich's medieval past and revealed hundreds of fragments, and traces of ancient cellars.
