John Youngs began work on the landmark St George's building at Norwich University College of the Arts during the summer of 2009 to create a new entrance adjacent to the existing entrance.
Work included the installation of sliding doors to protect the original solid oak doors, which remain in place to maintain the historic look of the building.
The floor restoration involved removing matting / floor coverings and renovating a unique mosaic floor made from glass tesserae, the mosaic’s design having been created by students in 1899. The floor had become dull and lifeless, there were tesserae missing, and full borders had been damaged by the installation of partitions and doors in the past.
